Big Rush Cast: a week with the dash button

We didn't expect much from Big Rush Cast. Another runner, we thought. But by the second evening it had quietly become the app we opened without thinking, and that's usually the sign of something good.

The whole thing hinges on its dash mechanic. Tapping builds a meter, and releasing that dash at the right moment clears rows of obstacles in a burst. Early on we spammed it and crashed constantly. Once we learned to save it and cast it deliberately, the game opened up completely.

Controls are one-thumb, which matters more than people admit. We played standing on a crowded bus with a bag in the other hand, and never felt the game was fighting us. The difficulty ramps up smoothly, so you improve without noticing.

A tip if you're starting out: don't chase speed. Big Rush Cast rewards timing, not panic. Let obstacles come to you and dash on the beat. Your runs will get twice as long almost immediately.

We're still opening it a week later, and that alone puts it near the top of our arcade picks this month.
